Decorators tips
■ Hang your pictures so the centre of the image is at
eye level, which is about 1.7m from the floor. Pictures and
artworks that are meant to be appreciated from a seated
position, such as in offices or dining areas, should be hung
lower, at seated eye level, or about 1,3m.
■ When hanging art above furniture, centre the artwork
over it. A picture that’s no more than 75 per cent of the
total width of the furniture is ideal.
■ For big, heavy pictures, it's best to have two hooks for
safety and to ensure the frame stays straight.
Family album
Give your predous snapshots and
fond memories the status they
deserve by grouping them together
and hanging them on the wall within
a painted panel, either rectangular
or square. It’s a modern way to
keep in touch with the past.
Flower power
If
frames, mounts and glass
aren’t your thing, head to a
Harvey Norman Photo Centre or
check online for businesses that
specialise in transferring high-
quality photos onto large canvases.
The effect is like a giant painting
and, in a monochromatic scheme
such as this, the white canvas
on a white wall gives the work
a floating, ethereal quality.
